Visualizing

Today we had company in our classroom. One of our school division's literacy coaches, Mrs. Robertson, came to teach us how to visualize. She brought us visualization tubes, and we used them to look at objects around the room. She also modelled a "think aloud" for us. It was fun, and doing think alouds and visualizing will help us to become better readers.

What Did They Say?

Today in guided reading we brainstormed possible conversations between the knight and the dragons as they sipped their tea in the story. We then used these ideas to act out the last page of the story.

Read the Room

In order to become good readers we need to read, read, read! One of the many things we do to practise is "reading the room". There are many charts and posters on the walls in our room that have words on them that we know how to read. Sometimes we "read the room" with a partner. When we do that we go around the room with a partner and take turns reading all of the words that we know to each other. It is very good practise.
