When Will It Be Spring?

We are getting very impatient for spring to come. Some students in our class are even trying to chip away the ice to find the hop scotch game that is painted underneath. It is time for spring activities and it is very difficult to wait any longer for all of the snow to melt!

Grade 6 Buddies

Today when our grade six buddies came we read books to each other (yes...we can now read to our buddies) and played the math game "Give a Dog a Bone" on the computers. We found that often the grade ones were better at finding the numbers on the 100 chart than the grade 6's!

St. Patrick's Day

We had a very busy day on St. Patrick's Day. We made rainbow toast, which was a lot of fun to do and very tasty too. Then we fingerpainted with green pudding, which was also delicious. Then we went sledding with all of the grade one, two, and three students for the afternoon. We went home very tired and ready for our three day weekend!

Addition or Subtraction?

ee
brought to you by Livescribe

When we problem solve we have several things to think about. First we have to decide if we should add or subtract, then we have to decide which strategy we can use to solve the problem, and finally we have to write a number sentence for the problem. We are getting better and better at doing problem solving!

Doubles Facts

We have been learning our doubles facts in math. Today we made doubles flashcards to take home so we could practise them. We also practised them in class today with one person pretending they were the teacher and the other person pretending they were the student.

Addition and Subtraction Stories

Today we used ten frames to help us make number sentences. We got very good at combining (for addition) and separating (for subtraction) using ten frames.
